The work explores the concept
of the inner and outer body, by way of psychological and sociological
influences.
The designs explore the magnified textures of the outer skin, while
concentrating on the internal body through the use of many layers
acting as a communicator to the external world.
This work attempts to demonstrate how culture and society influences
the body and mind.
This inside, outside dualism is what inspires the work produced
by Sue.
In detail, Sue's work explores the qualities of skin, and the interest
in expressing skin textures by accentuating the cracks, the folds
and those qualities that could be interpreted as "imperfections".
Each vessel has its own individual beauty, and although the surface
may appear flawed, this feature enhances its appeal.
Sue works both in multiples, and single pieces, which represents
her interest in society. |
